Madison residents who live near or own property near the creeks that run through the city are being reminded to not place or leave debris near the creeks.  Madison City Commissioners discussed this issue both last week and this week during their regular meetings.

Public Works Commissioner Kelly Johnson said people need to be responsible citizens.

Jim Casanova, who lives near Memorial Creek on 9th Street in Madison, brought pictures to show commissioners of wood and other debris that someone had left by the creek near his home.

Commissioner Mike Waldner said that the city can handle violations on a case by case basis.

Commissioner Johnson said what is so upsetting about this debris being left by the creeks is that residents have an option to dispose of it otherwise.

Commissioners also remind residents not to push or pile snow near the creeks, as that can also cause issues if it goes into them.
