City to help employees get Commercial Driver’s Licenses

The City of Madison is establishing a program that will help employees get a Commercial Driver’s License.  City Commissioners approved a resolution during their meeting on Monday that allows the city to pay the costs associated with an employee obtaining a CDL.  City Administrator Jameson Berreth said that the city has had trouble hiring people with a CDL, which is required for some positions, so they came up with this as a possible solution.

Berreth said there will be a stipulation to the city providing this for employees.

Berreth said the agreements for the CDL’s will be handled on a case by case basis within city departments and will not need to go through the commission for approval.
