City to advertise contract for part-time animal control duties

The City of Madison will be advertising a contract for part-time animal control duties.  Madison City Commissioners on Monday approved the recommendation provided by City Administrator Jameson Berreth.  Berreth said that the city has an employee who works as the animal control officer during the week and is on call.  He said that there has also been someone part-time who takes over the on-call time when the full-time person isn’t available, but that isn’t a good long-term solution.

Berreth recommended that the city advertise the contract for the part-time animal control duties and anyone interested can apply.

Berreth said if a current city employee is hired for the contract for the part-time animal control duties that it would be separate from their current job duties.
