City providing bus trips to area pools

The City of Madison is adding more activities for area kids to help make up for a summer without the Madison Aquatic Center.  The Madison Aquatic Center isn’t open this summer due to needed electrical repairs and safety concerns.

The City has now organized bus trips to pools in neighboring towns.  The pool trips are currently scheduled for Mondays and Thursdays through the end of July, with the exception of Monday, July 5th.  It doesn’t cost anything for kids to participate in the pool trips, but they must be at least seven years old and be registered.  Registration closes two days prior to each event in order to give staff time to finalize arrangements.  Each trip has a maximum capacity of 50 children.  The bus will pick up and drop off kids at several different locations throughout the city, starting pick-ups at around noon and returning around 5:00 p.m.

Mayor Marshall Dennert told city commissioners Monday that they had around fifteen kids take part in the first pool trip to Garretson this past Monday, but he said he figured they would grow as people learned more about them.

More information on the weekly pool trips, bus schedule, and a link to the registration portal can be found on the City of Madison’s website.
