The Madison City Commission is proceeding with plans for sidewalk improvements in the city next year.  Commissioners on Monday accepted the recommendation of the city’s sidewalk committee for two different locations for sidewalk installation.  The committee recommended the areas of 5th Street Northeast from Prairie to Antelope Avenues, and 4th Street Northeast from Division to Antelope Avenues.

City Engineer Chad Comes told commissioners that the sidewalk committee took into consideration the commission’s concerns with recommending areas not heavily affected by recent flooding.

Comes said with the commission’s approval, the next step is for his office to put together a resolution.

Comes said the resolution will include the information on the city’s new sidewalk assessments for 2020.
