City issues Winter Energy Advisory

The City of Madison’s Electric Department has issued a Winter Energy Advisory.  The Advisory has been issued because of the severe winter weather and cold forecasted for this week. City consumers are encouraged to voluntarily conserve or limit energy usages.  This assists in controlling the peak demand on the power system.

City officials recommend that residents turn off any unnecessary lights or space heaters, but not anything that will affect their personal safety during this time. Also, they encourage consumers to limit major appliance usage such as washers, dryers, and dishwashers to nighttime usage only.

City officials said also that the Load Management System will be working very hard during this time, which could cause some minor inconveniences.
