City crews complete storm tree debris cleanup; start picking up storm construction debris

City of Madison crews have completed two rounds of removing storm tree debris, one month after the May 12th derecho.  Any city residents with additional tree debris will now need to haul it themselves to the yard waste site located on 456th Avenue, just north of the city’s wastewater treatment plant.

Now that the tree debris removal is completed, city crews will move on to picking up construction debris.  This will be storm construction debris only, and city crews will only do one round of pick-up from city boulevards.  Any other items clearly not resulting from the May 12th storm will not be collected.

Residents can continue to take storm construction debris to the Restricted Use Site, located two miles west and one-half mile north of Junius.  The hours are Monday through Thursday from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  Fees are currently being waived for those bringing storm debris to the Restricted Use site.

Anyone with any questions regarding the city’s clean-up efforts can contact the city’s Public Works Office at (605) 256-7515, Option 5.
