City Commissioners Discussed Overnight Parking Restrictions

During last night’s City Commission meeting, the Board of Commissioners discussed the possibility of restricting overnight parking in certain parts of Egan Avenue.

With the weather we have received this winter and the difficulties of removing snow in parts of Madison, the commissioners mentioned the possibility of implementing an overnight parking restriction on Egan Avenue between 2nd St N and 2nd St S.

City Administrator Jameson Berreth spoke on how this issue was originally brought up.

Berreth said that even though the winter season is why this is being discussed, it would be a year round restriction from 2am-6am. He mentions the benefits to this overnight restriction.

Madison Police Chief Justin Meyer also spoke about the potential parking restrictions.

No decision was made, as the Board of Commissioners will discuss this topic again at their next meeting on Monday, April 3rd.

Also during the meeting last night, the board approved giving city employees the day after Easter, Monday April 10th, off of work, and designated it as an “Employee Holiday” for 2023.
