The Madison City Commission has approved the renewal of the city’s special maintenance fee. The fee is paid by residents and goes toward maintaining and repairing city streets. During their meeting Monday, commissioners approved a resolution renewing the annual levy of a special maintenance fee upon the lots fronting and abutting any improvements within the city that are maintained by the city. In the resolution it states that the fee will be used for the annual maintenance and repair of street surfaces within the city limits.
The fee is assessed at the rate of one-dollar per front foot with a 125 foot maximum per lot. City Finance Officer Sonya Wilt said this is the same amount that the fee has been for several years and there is no increase in the fee this year.
The resolution for the city’s special maintenance fee is approved by the commission on an annual basis.
