Madison City Commissioners on Monday approved an ordinance setting seasonal limitations on excavation permits issued in the city.

During first reading of the ordinance two weeks ago, commissioners approved it stating that permits will not be issued October 1st through April 1st, and no excavation “shall be accomplished after October 15th”.  City Engineer Chad Comes suggested changing that date to November 1st, but Commissioner Bob Thill said he wanted to keep the October 15th deadline.

Commissioner Kelly Johnson said he was okay with keeping the date as long as it also stated “unless otherwise approved in writing by the Street Superintendent or City Engineer”.

Commissioners unanimously approved the second reading of the ordinance with the added amendment.
