City Commission Adds City Administrator Position To City’s Pay Scale

The Madison City Commission has approved a resolution adding a City Administrator position to the city’s list of full-time positions. During their meeting this week, commissioners approved the resolution adding a City Administrator as one of the city’s full-time exempt department head positions. The position is listed at a Grade 26, which on the city’s Grade and Step Scale for 2021 starts at $50.50 an hour.

Finance and Revenue Commissioner Adam Shaw said that the amendment to the resolution needs to be made in order for the city to proceed with the position. He said that the city has done some structural reorganization that has helped financially with funding the City Administrator position.

Shaw said that he wants city residents to know how the new position will be funded.

Shaw said that the grade level of the new position is comparable to other communities that they have checked with, and he said it should make a more attractive position.
