City approves Tax Increment District for new senior living facility in Madison

Developers are getting ready to start work on a new senior living facility on the south Madison bypass.  The Madison City Commission on Monday approved a resolution creating a Tax Increment District for the project.  Bobbie Bohlen of HME Management in Brookings provided commissioners with updated architectural drawings of the project, which will include both independent and assisted living.

The new project will be located just east of Madison Regional Health System, and Bohlen said it’s a 15-million dollar project that will create twenty new jobs.  

City Administrator Jameson Berreth explained what Tax Increment District Number Three will mean for the city.

Tobin Morris of Colliers Securities of Pierre discussed the project plan for the TID with commissioners.

Commissioners on Monday approved the resolution providing for the creation of the Tax Increment District Number Three, along with the Project Plan and Developer’s Agreement for it.
