City approves salary resolution, new Library position

The Madison City Commission approved a couple of resolutions regarding city employee compensation during its meeting on Monday.

City Administrator Jameson Berreth said the 2023 salary resolution for city employees includes a five-and-a-half-percent increase in the employees’ grade and step scale.  He said that this increase was included in the city’s budget for the next year.

Berreth said that the salary resolution also includes a new benefit for those within the city’s police department.

In a separate resolution, Berreth explained to commissioners a change in positions for the Madison Public Library.  He said that they are changing the Children’s Librarian position to a Programs Coordinator position.  Berreth said the person in the new position will handle events for all ages at the Library.  He said that the resolution is needed so  that they can start their search for someone to fill the position.
