City approves resolution for transaction processing fee charge
The Madison City Commission has adopted a resolution allowing the city to charge a transaction processing fee for residents who use a credit or debit card to pay for city goods and services. City Finance Officer Sonya Wilt told commissioners during their meeting Monday that this will allow the city to re-coup the fees that it has to pay to process credit and debit cards. Â
Wilt said that these fees cost the city thousands of dollars each year.
The city accepts credit, charge, and debit cards, and also e-Checks, for any payment for things like taxes, fines, special assessments, fees, charges, memberships or money due to the city. Â
