City hires new City Administrator

The Madison City Commission has approved the hiring of a new City Administrator.  In a special meeting Wednesday, commissioners unanimously approved a contract for Jameson Berreth to fill the new position.  Berreth has been working as City Administrator for the City of Volga for the past five years.  Berreth is planning to start in the position on May 10th at a salary of just more than 108-thousand dollars.

Mayor Marshall Dennert said that the process to hire for the new position of City Administrator started in November and he said he felt they had found a good candidate for the position.

In discussion after the motion was made to approve the contract for the position, city resident George Lee questioned commissioners on why they didn’t wait to fill the position and used the money to help take care of fixing the repairs at the Madison Aquatic Center.  Commissioner Adam Shaw said they are still working with insurance on that matter.
