City approves engineering services agreement for new administration building

The Madison City Commission has approved an agreement with a Sioux Falls firm for engineering services for a new city administration building.  The new building is to be located near South Highland Avenue and Southwest 4th Street.

City Administrator Jameson Berreth said the agreement is with Randall Stanley Architects (RSA) of Sioux Falls.  According to the agreement, the building is a 30-thousand square foot, two-story precast building, which will house  the Police, Finance, Human Resources, Engineering, and Administrative departments, along with the Mayor’s Office and Commission room.  The agreement states that eight-thousand of the 30-thousand square feet will be used as vehicle storage for city-owned vehicles.

Berreth said that compensation for RSA will be billed at five-point-nine-percent of the total cost of construction, with additional compensation possible if additional services are needed.
