City approves contractor for substation repair project

The Madison City Commission has approved a quote from a Nebraska company to do repairs on the city’s power plant substation.  Utilities Director Brad Lawrence told commissioners during their meeting Monday that something happened at the conclusion of last year’s electrical upgrade project that prompted the needed repairs.

Lawrence said that DGR Engineering came up with a plan for the repairs at the substation and put it out for quotes.  Two quotes were received, and Lawrence encouraged commissioners to go with Harold K. Scholz Company of Ralston, Nebraska at a quote of 27-thousand-750 dollars for the project.  Commissioners approved that quote with the money to come from a reserve account that Lawrence said is no longer needed.  He said that the company hopes to have the project completed by the end of May.Â
