City approves additional firefighters

The Madison City Commission has agreed to increase the number of volunteer firefighters that the city can have.  Fire Chief Randy Minnaert made the request to commissioners during their meeting on Monday.  He said currently the department is at 30 firefighters, including himself, and he would like to be able to increase that number to 32.

Minnaert said that there is not a set number of firefighters that departments should have, but he said that most of the departments within Lake County have around 25 to 30 firefighters.
