City applying for West Nile Virus prevention grant

The city of Madison is applying for a grant through the state Department of Health for West Nile Virus prevention.

Madison City Commissioners last week approved the application for the grant funding.  City Parks Supervisor Mike McGillivray told commissioners that the city applies for this funding annually.

Last year, the city of Madison received just more than 38-hundred dollars in grant money for it’s mosquito control efforts.

More than 200 cities, counties and tribes received a share of the 500-thousand dollars in grants awarded last year intended to control mosquitoes and prevent West Nile virus. Â
