The City of Madison is amending its ordinance regarding emergency snow routes.  Madison City Commissioners approved first reading of an ordinance containing a couple of amendments to the routes during their meeting Monday.  City Streets Director Gary Gonyo told commissioners why the emergency snow routes are important.

Gonyo said that they are removing a couple of areas, including the block near where the former Golden Living Center was located in northeast Madison, and an area behind the old hospital.  He said that they are adding the street near the Best Western Plus Lakeview Hotel, which is Southeast 12th Street from Washington Avenue to John Deere Circle.

Commissioners will hold second reading of the amended ordinance regarding emergency snow routes at a future meeting.
