The Brookings City Council this week gave second reading and passage to another 60-day extension of the city’s current pandemic restrictions.  They were set to expire on February 13th.   The ordinance includes a mask mandate and capacity limits on some businesses in the city of Brookings. The mask mandate has been in place since September.

City Manager Paul Briseno said, based on current numbers, he recommended another 60-day extension. Brookings Health System CEO Jason Merkley said the county is trending in the right direction but they’re still in substantial spread so he recommended extending the ordinance.

The Brookings City Council approved the extension on a 5-to-2 vote.
