As if college students aren’t feeling enough stress with managing school in the middle of a pandemic, the Better Business Bureau is warning of targeted scams.

Jessie Schmidt of South Dakota’s Better Business Bureau office says college students are getting e-mails regarding COVID relief funding and invited to “click here” to learn more.

Schmidt says some phishing emails look completely legitimate but bad grammar and spelling can be a tip-off to a phishing attempt. Another clue the email is not really from your school is the wrong department’s name is used.

Students are encouraged to contact their local Better Business Bureau office if they are unsure of something that could possibly be a scam.
