AP- South Dakota’s attorney general has been charged with three misdemeanors for striking and killing a man with his car last September. Jason Ravnsborg avoided more serious felony charges that prosecutors say simply aren’t supported by evidence. He faces up to 30 days in jail on each of three counts, including careless driving. Ravnsborg says he’s grateful that he’s still presumed innocent under the law. He initially told authorities he thought he had struck a deer. Ravnsborg has said he didn’t know he struck a man until he returned to the scene and found the body the next day. The man’s relatives have questioned Ravnsborg’s account. One cousin says he is disappointed that the charges are not more serious, and that the family will likely take civil action.
