A 26 year old man will serve time in prison on child pornography charges. Corey Asbury was sentenced Tuesday in Lake County Circuit Court, after previously pleading guilty to one count of possession of child pornography.

In 2021, law enforcement was presented with a tip through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s cyber tipline, the nation’s centralized reporting system for the online exploitation of children. The tip alerted law enforcement to the possible images on an account owned by Asbury. A search revealed the image file located in Asbury’s Cloud Account.

Circuit judge Patrick Pardy said on Tuesday that the evidence in the case was “Very Concerning”. The judge said upwards of 700 files were uploaded and saved by Ashbuy, and called the files “As disgusting as you can get.”

Judge Pardy sentenced Ashbury to 10 years in the State Penitentiary, and was given credit for 72 days served. 7 years of the sentence were suspended, based on several conditions. Those conditions include that Ashbury pay all fines and costs ordered, register as sex offender, and complete all programming that is required by the state.
