Aircraft makes safe emergency landing in Lake County

Everyone aboard an aircraft was okay after having to make an emergency landing in Lake County this (Monday) morning.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office reports that just after 6:30 this (Monday) morning, a Cirrus SR GTS was flying over Lake County and experienced mechanical failures, causing the engine to shut down.  The pilot conducted the proper emergency response to the shut down, deployed the aircraft’s parachute, and was able to successfully land the plane in the rural Ramona area without any injuries to himself or to the two other passengers on board.

The Sheriff’s Office said the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been notified and is continuing the investigation.
