Active COVID-19 cases increase in state; Lake County reports ten

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state continues to go up.  In information reported by the state Department of Health on Monday, the overall number of active cases is currently at close to 26-hundred.  331 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Monday, with hospitalizations now at 127.  The total number of people who have died with COVID-19 is now at 2057.  

In Lake County, there are now ten active cases as of Monday and the county is reported to have Moderate community spread of the virus.  Brookings County has the most active cases in our area with 97 currently, and is in the High community spread category.  Other area counties with High community spread are Moody and Kingsbury counties.  Moody County reported fourteen active cases, and Kingsbury County reported eight as of Monday. 

Close to 56-percent of the state’s eligible population has completed their COVID-19 vaccination series, while close to 61-percent have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
