Active COVID-19 cases in state dip below the 1000 mark

One additional COVID-19 death was reported in the state on Thursday.  According to the state Department of Health, there have been 1989 COVID-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic. The state reported 81 new positive COVID-19 cases yesterday.   Active cases were down to below one-thousand as of Thursday, and the number of people hospitalized because of the virus increased slightly to 68.  

Lake County reported three new positive COVID-19 cases and three recovered cases, keeping the county’s number of active cases at five as of yesterday.  Moody County is the only area county to report an increase in active cases Thursday, going up to thirteen.  Elsewhere in the area, Kingsbury County reported four active coronavirus cases, and McCook and Miner counties each had three.  Brookings County reported 26 active COVID-19 cases as of Thursday.
