Active COVID-19 cases in Lake County increase

The number of COVID-19 deaths has increased again this week, with the state Department of Health reporting nine additional deaths Thursday, for a total of 2142 statewide since the start of the pandemic.  

The state reported close to 74-hundred active COVID-19 cases statewide, and 214 people hospitalized because of the virus as of Thursday.

In our area, Lake County reported 57 active cases Thursday.  McCook County had 31 active COVID-19 cases, Kingsbury County – 28, and Moody County reported 21 active cases as of Thursday.   Miner County had four active coronavirus cases, and Brookings County reported 259.

Statewide, close to 59-percent of the state’s eligible population had completed their COVID-19 vaccination series, while just more than 64-percent had received at least one dose as of Thursday. Â
