Active COVID-19 cases continue to decrease

Less than 20 new positive COVID-19 cases were reported in the state as of Monday, as active cases continue to decrease.  The state Department of Health reported 154 active cases statewide and 31 people hospitalized.  No new deaths were reported, with the state’s total since the start of the pandemic currently at 2027.  

Area counties reported five or less active COVID-19 cases each as of Monday.  Lake County had five, Brookings County reported four, with McCook, Moody, and Kingsbury counties all with no active cases at this time.  

The number of people fully vaccinated against the virus is now at close to 56-percent of the state’s eligible population. Â
