Active cases of COVID-19 increase statewide

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state continues to rise.  As of Wednesday, the state Department of Health reported more than seven-thousand active cases in the state.  The number of people hospitalized because of the virus was at 231, and the total number of COVID-19 deaths increased to 2320.  

Two deaths reported Wednesday are from a couple of area counties.  McCook and Brookings counties each reported an additional COVID-19 death yesterday. 

As far as active cases, Lake County had 52 as of Wednesday and McCook County had 58.  Moody County reported 55 active COVID-19 cases, and Kingsbury County had 20.  

The Madison Central School District reported also that one more student or staff member at Madison High School had tested positive for COVID-19.  As of Wednesday, the district had four active cases within the high school and three in the elementary school.
