Legislature passes state budget

State legislators voted Wednesday on the state’s budget bills to wrap up the main run of the legislative session.

Senate Bill 191 is the general spending bill for fiscal year 2020.  Senator John Wiik, Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, says there is more money included for their priority, which is nursing homes.

Wiik says there are several increases.

Senator Stace Nelson of Fulton objected, concerned about a veto from the Governor.

That bill passed the Senate on a vote of twenty-seven to two. It earlier passed in the House on a vote of fifty-three to six. Both Houses then adjourned until the final day on March 29th.
