A third quarter run from Dakota State wasn’t enough to knock off the #9 Morningside women Wednesday night, the Mustangs pulled off their 8th win in the last 9 games by handling the Lady T’s 89-65. Morningside pulled in front early with a big second quarter to take a 48-30 halftime advantage. The Lady T’s run out of the locker room trimmed the lead down to 10 but their turnover troubles came at a price of a victory. DSU finished with 29 turnovers in their 12th non-conference loss this season.
MacKenzie Hermanson led DSU with 18 points and Jessi Giles added 14 points and 8 rebounds. Morningside’s Sydney Hupp had a game-high 20 points with the Mustangs improving to 15-4 overall.
Dakota State falls to 2-14 overall heading back into their NSAA conference schedule this weekend. The Lady T’s travel to face Valley City State Friday at 5:30pm and then take on Mayville State Saturday at 3pm. Both games will be on Jammin’ Country FM 103.1.
