Lady T’s comeback in 4th, Trojans fall to split with Dickinson State

Dakota State University Basketball capped off their NSAA weekend with a split against Dickinson State University. The Lady T’s used a 4th quarter surge to sweep the season series against the Blue Hawks for an 87-79 win. The Trojan men fell 86-57 after a big opening half from Dickinson State.

The Lady T’s trailed by as much as 9 points in the 2nd half which they cut down to a 60-54 deficit. Dakota State outscored the Blue Hawks 33-19 in the 4th behind McKenzie Hermanson’s 15 points and 4 3-pointers for their first win in 6 games. Hermanson finished with a game-high 23 points and shot 6-of-13 from 3-point range. Alexis Robson added 18 points for the Lady T’s to improve their record to 4-22 overall and 3-10 in the NSAA.

Dakota State’s men scored the first points of the game but went on to trail by as much as 31 points against the Blue Hawks. The Trojans fell behind early by shooting only 29 percent from the field. Dakota State trimmed the lead down to 15 points in the 2nd half, but the Blue Hawks pulled away with 48 points scored from their bench. Justin Folkers led the Trojans with 19 points and Josh McGreal added 18 points as Dakota State falls to 9-20 overall and 4-9 in the NSAA.

The Lady T’s will close out their regular season this week with two games, starting with their final non-conference game versus Mount Marty College on Wednesday. Dakota State will then face Bellevue University on Saturday for their final NSAA regular season game on Saturday.
