Jorita Arends, 65, of Salem passed away due to natural causes on August 13, 2019 at her home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17 at 1 pm at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem.
Jorita Joyce Arends was born March 29, 1954 to Robert N. Sr. and Phyllis R. (Shumate) May in Topeka, KS. She graduated from Ortonville High School, MN and got married in 1972. Jorita then lived in Salem and raised her family there. She loved crafts, unicorns, the Kansas City Chiefs and cats and dogs. She also enjoyed playing video games and games on the computer.
Jorita is survived by: her fiancé, Wayne Lofswald of Salem; her children, Rodney (JoAnn) Arends of Sioux Falls, Staci (Donnie) West of Lawrence, KS, Kara Stone of Dustin, OK and Sara (Kevin) Esslinger of Spearfish, SD; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; siblings, Milton (Alberta) May of Topeka, KS, Robert N. May Jr. of Sioux Falls, Jackie (Curt) Crockett of Sibley, IA, Jerry May of Salem and Nikki Donahou of Lennox, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and one niece.
