A former Madison pastor has been installed as Bishop of the South Dakota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Reverend Constanze Hagmaier was installed this past weekend at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Hagmaier most recently served as the Administrative Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison.
Hagmaier officially succeeded Bishop David B. Zellmer on September 1st. Zellmer was in office for twelve years. Hagmaier has a vision for the church.
Hagmaier’s hope is that others understand that message.
The South Dakota Synod is one of 65 synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (or ELCA) and includes more than 200 congregations and 100-thousand members.
