Flandreau VFW moves a game from State Tournament

The Flandreau 14U VFW baseball team faced down a pair of elimination games on Thursday, winning them both, and putting themselves one more win away from the State Tournament. Flandreau had lost to Volga on Wednesday, setting up an elimination game against Milbank Thursday afternoon. Flandreau built up an early six run lead in that game, and held on for a 13-9 win. Logan Voelker drove in 4 runs in the game, and Tash Lunday added 3 RBI.

The win set up another elimination game against Sisseton. Flandreau’s offense exploded for 15 runs in that game, but they only needed 1. Tash Lunday threw a 4 inning no-hitter in the 15-0 win. Lunday struck out 11 batters in the 4 inning complete game, while issuing just 1 walk. Voelker again powered the bats with 5 RBI.

Flandreau faces one last obstacle before they can advance to State, a rematch today against Volga. The winner advances to State, and takes on Dell Rapids for a chance at the Region title. Today’s games from Sisseton begin at 1pm.
