Ed Hexom, age 86, of Wentworth, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 29, 2019 at his home.
A graveside service will be at 11 AM on Friday, September 6th at Graceland Cemetery. Military honors
will be provided by Madison VFW & Madison American Legion. Online condolences can be sent at
Edward Rovang Hexom was born December 27, 1932 to Edward M. and Myrtle T. (Rovang) Hexom in
Madison, SD. In his younger years, he helped with the family business – Hexom Memorial Co. He was
active in Boy Scouts and lettered in both football and basketball at Madison High School. Upon
graduation in 1952, he joined the Army, with boots on the ground during the Korean Conflict. Ed was a
surveyor in an artillery company. After the war, he returned to Madison and attended General Beadle
Later in life he worked for Otis, Montgomery and other companies installing and servicing elevators,
escalators and moving walkways all around the United States with Denver being his home base. Ed
enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends in Colorado, Montana, and Alaska including a successful
moose hunting trip in Alaska. Ed was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Erlae Mae, Nola Jean “Toni” and Constance
Louise “Connie”, and a niece, Daira Tosch-Hanschmidt. He is survived by 3 nephews, 2 nieces and
