“We Were Never the Cinderella Team”

With the season now over, the Dakota State Women’s Basketball team has now been able to sit back and enjoy the success that they had in a record-breaking season.

DSU hosted a reception for the Trojans Women’s basketball team earlier this week, where Senior Courtney Menning spoke on how proud she is of this year’s team and how her and the rest of the team knew prior to the season that they were going to be successful.

Head Coach David Moe also spoke during the reception, and said that after falling in the NSAA Championship game to Mayville State, he still knew that he and his team could go far in the NAIA National Tournament.

The Trojans not only advanced to their first Fab Four appearance, but also became the first NSAA team to advance that far in the NAIA Women’s National Tournament since the league’s inception in 2013-14.

Coach Moe also discussed the turnaround he oversaw with the team in the past couple of years.

Aside from making their first Fab Four appearance and upsetting three straight teams in the tournament, the Trojans won a school-record 29 games this year and finished the year 29-7 overall.Â
