Two Trojans Competed in NAIA Womens Track Championships Yesterday

Two Dakota State Senior Women’s athletes were in action Thursday on the second day of the three-day NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. The national meet is hosted by Indiana Wesleyan at Wildcat Stadium on their campus.

Fane Sauvakacolo made her first appearance at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships at DSU. She ran in the 100-meter hurdles and finished with a time of 14.99 seconds in the prelims. She did not advance to the finals after placing 33rd.

Traia Hubbard returned to the national outdoor track & field meet for the third time in her career at Dakota State (2019, 2021, 2023). She threw 39 feet, 2 inches on her first attempt, followed by a 42 feet, 2.75 inches throw on her second try. She improved her toss to (44 feet, 6.25 inches on her third attempt and did not advance to the final after finishing 13th overall in the prelims.

The NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships wrap up Friday. Hubbard is scheduled to compete in the discus throw at 12pm.Â
