Trojans Play in NAIA Round of 16 Today

The Dakota State women’s basketball team continues their postseason run this afternoon in the NAIA Women’s Basketball National Tournament with the Round of 16.
The Trojans, ranked 24th in the NAIA Women’s Basketball Top 25 poll and are the sixth seed in the tournament, face off against the 2nd seeded team, 11th ranked Carroll College. Both DSU and Carroll have 27 wins this season.
Carroll is currently on a 15 game winning streak, while the Trojans just ended Eastern Oregon’s 20 game win streak.
The other pairing in the Liston Quadrant features No. 1 seed Indiana Wesleyan (30-3 overall record, No. 5 in the final national rankings, currently on a 22-game winning streak) takes on No. 4 seed Briar Cliff (26-7 overall record, No. 18 in the final national poll, and currently on a 9-game winning streak. They meet Tuesday at 1pm. Tuesday’s winners will move on face off on Wednesday at 6pm for a spot to the national semifinals, which is set for Friday at 8pm.
Dakota State began their NAIA national tournament by defeating Morningside 78-65 in the first round on March 7, followed by an 86-69 upset victory over No. 12 ranked Eastern Oregon in the second round on March 8 in Wichita, Kansas.
