Tordsen Earns NAIA Athlete-of-the-Week for Second Straight Week

Conner Tordsen continued his record-breaking season for Dakota State as he was tabbed as the NAIA Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete-of-the-Week. It was the first time in DSU outdoor track & field program history that an athlete was named to the national weekly honor for two consecutive weeks.

Tordsen broke his own school record in the hammer throw twice during the week for the Trojans. He won three throwing titles at the Mount Marty Twilight Meet. He produced a school record of 201 feet, 1 inch in the hammer throw. He added 177 feet, 5 inches in the discus throw and 51 feet, 9 inches in the shot-put.

Tordsen also competed in the 113th annual running of the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, last weekend. He opened with a mark of 168 feet, 5 inches to place seventh in the event.

He wrapped up the week by registering another school record in the hammer throw, throwing 203 feet, 4 inches. He finished third in the hammer throw event.

Besides his shot-put toss hitting the NAIA ‘B’ provisional mark in the Mount Marty meet, all of Tordsen’s hammer throws and discus throws meet the NAIA ‘A’ automatic qualifying marks.  The NAIA Outdoor Track & field National Championships will be held in Marion, Indiana, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan, on May 24-26.

Dakota State concludes their regular-season schedule Friday in the NCAA Division I meet, South Dakota Tune-Up meet in Vermillion, SD, with the first events starting at 2:30pm.
