Tordsen Adds Another Athlete-of-the-Week Honor

Conner Tordsen continued his impressive throwing performances as he collected his fourth NSAA Men’s Outdoor Track Field Athlete-of-the-Week. It was his third consecutive week that he received the conference weekly honors, including the NAIA national weekly honor last week.

Tordsen has amassed four NSAA Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete-of-the-Week honors this spring.

Tordsen broke the Dakota State hammer throw school record twice in the same week. He collected three throwing titles in the Mount Marty Twilight meet, hitting the first school record of 201 feet, 1 inch.  He added 177 feet, 5 inches in the discus throw and 51 feet, 9 inches in the shot-put.

Tordsen was invited to compete in the 113th annual running of the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, last weekend. The events that Tordsen competed in consisted of throwers from NCAA Division I and II schools.

He opened with 168 feet, 5 inches to place seventh in the event. He wrapped up the week by producing another school record in the hammer throw with 203 feet, 4 inches, where he finished third in the event.

Besides his shot-put toss hitting the NAIA ‘B’ provisional mark last week, all Tordsen’s hammer throw and discus throw met the NAIA ‘A” automatic qualifying marks. The NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships will be held in Marion, Indiana, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan, on May 24-26.

Dakota State wraps up their regular-season schedule tomorrow when they head to Vermillion, SD for the South Dakota Tune-up meet.
