The NAIA released the 2023 Daktronics-NAIA Men’s Basketball Scholar-Athletes last week, and Dakota State’s Ethan Slaathaug was named to the award.
The 2023 list features 542 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA at their institution.
In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
Sophomore Guard Ethan Slaathaug was the lone Trojan to be named to the prestigious academic national award. He was 32-of-66 from the field in the 2022-23 season for the Trojans (48.5 percent). He averaged 4.3 points per game.
