Sauvakacolo Triple-Jumped in Final Day of NAIA National Championships

Fane Sauvakacolo of Dakota State competed on the final day of the 43rd annual NAIA Women’s Indoor Track & Field National Championships Saturday morning. It was her second consecutive day for Sauvakacolo competing at the three-day national meet. 

She competed in the triple jump for the Trojans, where she registered a leap of 36 feet, 2.75 inches on the first attempt. Sauvakacolo improved her mark to 36 feet, 8.5 inches on her second attempt and was unable to convert the third attempt after being fouled.

Sauvakacolo finished 24th overall for DSU in the field of 35 triple jumpers. She improved four places from her national seed at No. 28 prior to the national meet.

Saturday officially concluded the indoor track & field season for Dakota State. The Trojans take a few weeks off before making their outdoor track & field season debut on March 24-25 in the Wildcat Classic, held in Wayne, Nebraska.
