Sauvakacolo Breaks DSU Triple Jump Record

During yesterday’s South Dakota Challenge, Fane Sauvakacolo broke the Dakota State outdoor  track and field school record in the triple jump.  

Sauvakacolo broke the record with her season-best jump of 36 feet, 9.75 inches to win the title.  It was her second straight meet that she captured the triple jump champion (Sioux City Relays on April 14). 

She broke her previous triple jump school record of 36 feet, 8.25 inches in 2022.

Carson Quigley leaped 30 feet, 10.5 inches to place eighth in the triple jump for Dakota State.  She added 15 feet, 3.5 inches to finish 10th in the long jump.

Sauvakacolo hit 15.16 seconds to produce a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles for the Trojans. Shaylee DeBeer added a time of 16.98 seconds to finish 11th. 

Raylee Wallis paced DSU with a time of 27.74 seconds for a ninth-place finish in the 200-meter dash. DeBeer followed up with a time of 27.80 seconds to place 10th. Shakiera Gronenthal was 13th in 30.90 seconds.

Wallis clocked a time of 1 minute, 1.34 seconds to post a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter dash for Dakota State. Saddie Palmquist produced a personal best time of 1:06.19 to finish ninth, followed by Gronenthal 10th with a time of 1:11.75.

Lindsey Roth registered a personal best time of 4:56.22 to finish third in the 1500-meter run for DSU. Madelyn Sylva added a personal record time of 5:05.13 to finish sixth. Jada Anderson was 13th in 5:20.62, while Brooke Beaucaire added a personal best time of 5:35.73 to place 16th.

Courtney Meyer clocked a time of 2 minutes, 53.61 seconds in the 800-meter run.

Traia Hubbard was eighth in the shot put with a toss of 40 feet, 4.75 inches. She added an 11th-place finish in the discus throw with a mark of 129 feet, 10 inches.

Dakota State stays busy this week as they return to action tomorrow in the Mount Marty Twilight meet. The Trojans also will take selected members to the annual prestigious outdoor track and field meet in the 2023 Drake Relays from Thursday through Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa.
