Roth Qualifies for NAIA Championships

Lindsay Roth was the lone Dakota State women’s cross country runner to qualify for the NAIA National Championships after running in the NSAA Championship last Friday at the Heart River Golf Course. 

For the third straight year, DSU finished third place in the team standings at the North Star championship meet. Freshman Lindsey Roth highlighted the Trojans with a runner-up honor in the 5K race, featuring 49 total runners.

Viterbo regained the NSAA women’s team title for the second time in the past three years, dethroning the defending champion and host-team Dickinson State. The V-Hawks tallied 32 points to claim the team title, followed by the Blue Hawks with 55 points. The Trojans scored 82 points in the team standings.

Madison Nelson of Bellevue won the NSAA individual title for the second straight year, hitting a time of 18 minutes, 27 seconds. Roth led the Trojans with a second-place finish after clocking a personal record time of 19 minutes, 14.8 seconds. As a result, she received the NSAA All-Conference honor and qualified for the national meet in two weeks.

Madelyn Sylva added a 12th-place finish for Dakota State, recording a time of 20 minutes, 6.40 seconds. Jada Anderson wrapped up her collegiate cross-country career at DSU with a 22nd place finish in 20 minutes, 56.40 seconds.

Saddie Palmquist produced a personal best time of 21 minutes, 9 seconds to finish 26th for DSU.  She received the NSAA Cross Country Champions of Character honor after the conclusion of the meet during the awards ceremony.

Brooke Beaucaire registered a time of 21 minutes, 23.50 seconds to place 29th for the Trojans. Courtney Meyer added a time of 24:07.80 to finish 44th.

Roth will be running in the 47th annual NAIA Women’s Cross-Country National Championships as one of the four NSAA individual qualifiers on the non-winning team.  The women’s national meet will be held at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida on Friday, November 18th with the women’s race starting at 9:30am.
