NSAA Postseason Pairings for Trojans Released

Both Dakota State baseball and softball teams prepare for the NSAA Postseason Tournament that starts this weekend with pairings having been announced. The first round of the tournament will begin on Friday, May 5th.

The Trojans baseball team heads into the NSAA tournament as the number two-seed after finishing their regular season with a 34-16 overall record and 24-4 NSAA conference record. They will play seven-seed Valley City State (12-32, 8-20 NSAA) on Friday at 4pm. 

DSU’s softball team, meanwhile, earned the four-seed with their 13-32 overall record, 12-15 NSAA conference record. The Trojans will play five-seed Viterbo (17-26, 11-16 NSAA) in the first game of the day on Friday, beginning at 10am.

Both tournaments for baseball and softball are double elimination and will be held at Dickinson State, with the championship game for softball to be played Monday, May 8th at 12pm and the championship game for baseball on Tuesday, May 9th at 12pm.

The tournament champion receives the NSAA’s automatic berth to the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round, which will be played on May 15-18 on 10 different sites announced by the NAIA national office Monday. The national tournament’s opening round winners move on to the Avista-NAIA Baseball World Series in Lewiston, Idaho on May 26-June 2.

All games are nine-innings with a 10-run mercy rule after 7 innings. There will be no 10-run rule in the championship game.
