Moe’s 100th Win for DSU Comes in Overtime

The Dakota State Trojans Women’s basketball team hit the road last night, where they got a 58-56 victory in overtime against Mayville State, giving Head Coach David Moe his 100th career win at DSU.

Trojans got out to a slower start, with Mayville able to get out to as much as an eight point lead in the first quarter. The Comets led 16-9 after one. 

The second quarter was when things started to turn around for DSU, closing in on MSU’s lead heading into halftime down only one point at 25-24.

After taking the lead In the third quarter, it looked like DSU would be able to get by without much of an issue, but the fourth quarter proved to be a different story. 

The Comets out scored the Trojans 21-14 in the fourth quarter, and thanks to a last second three-pointer at the buzzer, MSU sent the game to overtime, tied at 50-50. 

Overtime seemed like it could go either way, with neither team getting a comfortable lead. It would again come down to a last second three-point shot, but this time the Comets missed it at the buzzer, giving the Trojans the 58-56 win. 

Elsie Aslesen and Sidney Fick both led DSU in scoring, each getting 11 points. Aslesen also grabbed 11 rebounds to get a double-double. Savannah Walsdorf also had 11 rebounds to go with her seven points. 

Jordan Zrust for Mayville State ended with a double-double as well, getting a game leading 13 points and 11 rebounds. 

The win gave Head Coach David Moe his 100th career win at Dakota State.
