Macaluso Named to Second Straight CSC Academic All-District First Team

Manny Macaluso, Senior Outfielder for the Dakota State baseball team, was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District First Team for the second straight year.

He became a three-time NSAA All-Conference recipient, collecting his second consecutive First Team selection outfielder (2022, 2023). He was also named to the NSAA Baseball All-Conference Second Team in 2021.

The 2022-23 Academic All-District Baseball team, selected by CSC, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.

Macaluso finished the 2023 season with a batting average of .328 (61-of-186 at the plate) for the Trojans. He also produced a slugging percentage of .597 with 11 home runs, 15 doubles, 1 triple, and 34 singles.

Macaluso established a pair of all-time school records on the same play – home runs and RBIs – last April versus Presentation. He shattered the career records of 30 home runs (breaking the previous record of 25 home runs by Anyelo Roman from 2012-13) and 158 RBIs (previous record held by Shea Tonkin with 127 RBIs in 2005-07).

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 6th. Athletes will need to maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher.
