The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has chosen Dakota State’s senior Xitlali Lopez as its Player-of-the-Week.  It is the second straight week that a DSU player was selected as the league’s Player-of-the-Week award.

Lopez recorded at least a hit in all five games she played as the Trojans went 2-4 record for the week in the state of Kansas.  She is currently on a 10-game hitting streak.

Lopez tossed a no-hitter complete game win against Bethel (Kan.) in the McPherson (Kan.) Tournament on March 11.  She only issued one walk in the game and registered five strikeouts, facing 16 total batters in the game that lasted an hour.

For the week, Lopez She had a home run, double and drove in five runs for the Trojans.  She also posted an earned run average of 3.23 in the pitching circle.  She tossed 17 1/3 innings for the week, allowing just one unearned run in the final 12 innings.  She struck out 17 total batters and finished with a 2-1 record.

The next action for Dakota State softball will be  March 27-28 as they open their North Star Athletic Association play at home.  The Trojans host Valley City State (N.D.) in a four-game series, with a doubleheader on each day.  First game of the doubleheader is slated to start at 1 p.m. on each day at Thue Complex in downtown Madison.
